Care Plans are a highly valuable document and if used correctly, can provide a wealth of benefits to people with Dementia, their carers and families.

Collaboration between the University of Bradford’s Dementia Group and The Royal British Legion Homes revealed a need to keep people’s Care Plans in their own room. In practice there are issues concerning the feasibility of maintaining and consulting a Care Plan when it is located (as they typically are) in a central office, which may be some considerable distance from the resident's room. It was concluded that storing the Care Plan in the residents room would help ensure that Care Plans are always up to date and accessible to consult.

The Bradford Dementia Group approached Find with this innovative concept and asked if we would design and manufacture a product which was: robust, secure and large enough to accommodate a Care Plan folder, keyless access using a digitally coded access system, attractive in the context of the resident's room.

The Find design was manufactured and implemented throughout the Royal British Legion Homes and have since been adopted in many homes where this strategy is considered to be beneficial.

Box dimensions are:

400 x 400 x 120mm

Lock options:

  • Mechanical combination cam lock
  • Key operated cam lock

The Care Plan Box is an appropriate means of storing Care Plans in a residents room, where it is needed. This encourages carers to update Care Plans when a carer is with the resident rather than waiting until they return to the main office. It encourage better use of care plans and ensures the data is up to date and more accurate.
