Here at Hcsuk our values include integrity, knowledge and advice. We are acutely aware that in recent times some less scrupulous mobility retailers, who have been headlined in the news, have given our industry a poor reputation. We are very keen to demonstrate to our customers that we genuinely care about what we do and about treating our customers fairly and with respect. We are proud to members of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) – the UK’s oldest and largest healthcare association. Founded in 1917, the BHTA consists of almost 500 companies employing over 17,000 people who all make or sell healthcare and assistive technology products that help people live more independently. What makes us special, is our Code of Practice – the only one in our sector overseen by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI). We sign up to the Code, demonstrating our commitment to high levels of customer care that go above and beyond our legal obligations, giving customers confidence.
So from a customer perspective, wherever you see a BHTA logo, you know you’re dealing with a company you can trust. You’ll get clear information about your rights, receive a high standard of customer service and have access to an independent complaints process.
So what’s new about our showroom? Our Lisa and Beckie have been working tirelessly to give us a makeover and have introduced our brand new and very colourful “Dementia at Home” section – designed to help, support and enable people living at home with a Dementia. This is something very close to our hearts here, as Jo, our MD, has her own 97 year old Mum living at home with Vascular Dementia. We have real experience and knowledge of the challenges we know you face. Also many care professionals and family members who have loved ones at home have told us that they struggle to find resources and advice on this subject.
‘Persons living with dementia are usually capable of more than we can imagine’ Bob Demarco
By introducing our Dementia enabling product solutions, we aim to support peoples’ capabilities by:
· Improving daily living
· Helping with orientation
· Maintaining dignity
· Stimulating reminiscence
· Promoting communication
· Supporting healthy nutrition and hydration
We have different sections on display including colourful plates and cups for good nutrition and hydration, as colour is really important for people with a dementia as they need contrast to be able to recognise food and plates on the table.
Orientation is really important, for people living with a dementia, so we have solutions to help support such as clocks and boards to remind people, what day it is, what time it is and important information such as emergency contacts, What’s my address?, What’s my telephone number? Who is my doctor? What do I need to remember today?
Our range of activities that people can utilise in their own home can help with stimulation and engagement. We have some beautiful reminiscence boxes to help people remember things from their past – including World War Two memories, seaside holidays and baking days. Memory boxes, games and magazine cover images can help aid memory, and to engage with people with conversation and life discussions.
To help people remember where they keep things, we have a range of signage which can be put on cupboards and on drawers to remind people where they keep their clothes, where they keep their coats and shoes. These are all self-adhesive stickers that can be added to different areas.
We also have a separate brochure on our Dementia Enabling product solutions range which you can order by calling Beckie today on 01773 713713 or emailing her at sales@hcsuk.co.uk.
If you’re passing, feel free to pop in for a chat and a cuppa, we’d love to see you!
